Nachipa adds MV Aromo to fleet

On Tuesday 25 August in Imbarai shipyard in Japan, the naming ceremony for the MV Aromo took place. As a long-term charter, Nachipa was granted naming rights to the MV Aromo, and despite the significant challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the naming ceremony took place.

Although no one from Nachipa could attend the ceremony due to travel restrictions, the following statement was read out on our behalf:

“It is with great regret that I cannot attend the naming ceremony of MV Aromo. This time last year, no one could have predicted what 2020 had in store for us. However, despite the challenges it has thrown at us, as an industry, we have persevered. Indeed it is within this context that I would like to express my sincere thanks and admiration for both TOEI Shipping and Imabari Shipyard. Ensuring the successful delivery of MV Aromo amid these unprecedented conditions is to be admired and applauded by us all.

For Nachipa, the naming of MV Aromo represents a significant milestone in our company journey. As we continue to evolve from a good local operator to a great global partner in the dry bulk sector, we are building on our South American shipping heritage and expertise in the Americas to become the shipping company from the southern hemisphere that connects the whole world.

Importantly, we believe in being great before being big, and as we grow our fleet and global connections, MV Aromo takes us one step closer to realising our ambitions and those of our customers. As we look to the future, we remain fiercely proud of our history and Chilean roots, which is why we traditionally name our vessels after native Chilean trees and plants. MV Aromo is the latest vessel to follow in this tradition.

In conclusion, we believe in the power of deep collaborations and the delivery of MV Aromo is testament to our new close long standing partnership with TOEI. I am looking forward to the time when we will all be able to meet face to face. In the meantime, I am honoured to welcome MV Aromo to Nachipa´s operated fleet and wish both her and her crew safe and successful sailing.

Fair winds and following seas.”
